ENTRIES NOW OPEN 2018 CLUB CHAMPS

The 2018 Deepdene Tennis Club Championships are on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September.  Entries are now open across the following events:

  • Open Men's and Open Women's, Singles and Doubles

  • Junior Boys' and Junior Girls',
    Singles and Doubles

    (players must be aged 17 years or under)*

  • Senior Men's and Senior Women's, Singles and Doubles
    (players must be aged 50 years or over)*

  • Open Mixed Doubles

43 YEARS OF SERVICE

Warwick Honeycomb's 43 years of service as Treasurer for the Deepdene Tennis Club was recognised with Lifetime Achievement Award at the Booroondara Sports Awards 2023

DTC CENTENARY

Deepdene Tennis Club Celebrated our centenary on 1st April 2023 with an Open Day at the club. Special thanks to Felicity Sinfield, Jess Wilson & Monique Ryan for helping to unveil our new plaque.

DEEPDENE DIVAS 
WIN GRAND FINAL

Congratulations to the Deepdene Divas, who won their Blackburn & District Night Tennis Association Section 8 Grand Final on Monday 27 November, five sets to one.

 

The team can be seen celebrating below (left to right): Anne Corcoran, Georgina Nelson, Eliza Stevens, Lisa Williams, Jenny Hamilton and Christina Johnson.  Well done ladies!

During the baby boom after World War II, when Deepdene Tennis Club wasn't being used for tennis it was a kindergarten.

 

Margaret Johnson, Mrs Bedgood and Mrs Menzies (brother in law of Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies) started the kindergarten.

SOCIAL FAST4 TENNIS

Four clubs, including Deepdene, have come together to create a combined 'social tennis' event for its members, every Friday night.  

 

Play starts at 7.30pm.  Sets are played in the new 'Fast4' format, which makes for more time on court.  Dates / venues are as follows:

  • 16 November - Canterbury TC

  • 23 November - Deepdene TC 

 

No sign up required.  Balls provided.  Gold coin donation and refreshments appreciated.

DEEPDENE CLAIMS 'BEST OVERALL CLUB' AWARD FOR 2016-17

 

A huge thank you goes out to our members, competition players, as well as Top Tenn Tennis Academy, who have helped us receive Eastern Region Tennis' Eric Obst Award for 'Best Overall Club' in 2016-17.


Presented at the annual Eastern Region Tennis Presidents Dinner on 20 October, the Eric Obst Award recognises the club that has achieved the best results across all junior and senior competitions in 2016-2017.  

 

For the record, Deepdene had 2 of 3 senior teams, and 3 of 4 junior teams in finals during summer season.  In winter, 3 of 3 senior teams, and 2 of 4 junior teams made finals. Overall, Deepdene won four premierships.
